Jon Jones has been ruled out of the UFC heavyweight title fight at UFC 295 on November 11th at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The men’s number one pound-for-pound fighter suffered a severe pectoral tear that will keep him sidelined for an estimated 8 months.
Jiri Prochazka and Alex Pereira will be the new main event, UFC announced. Stipe Miocic, who was slated to face Jones will, instead, come off the card and there will be an interim title fight between Tom Aspinall and Sergei Pavlovich.

UFC President Dana White confirmed news of Jones’ injury and the subsequent changes with a video posted on UFC’s social media accounts. He asked fans: “What do you think about the changes?” So far, reactions have been mixed.

White took to social media to communicate the news: “Jon Jones was training last night and got injured. He was wrestling and tore the tendon that connects your pec to the bone, off the bone. Eight months. He’s going to need surgery, he’s out.”
UFC 295 is the second consecutive main event that is altered unexpectedly. In UFC 294, Charles Oliveira was forced to pull out of his lightweight title bout against Islam Makhachev.
Jon Jones is yet to react to the devastating news of his injury in what was supposed to be his big comeback year.
