Ant & Dec issued an apology to fans on Saturday night as Anthony McPartlin shrugged and told viewers ‘what are they gonna do, cancel us?’.

As the final episode Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway continued, it became increasingly clear that the show won’t come back, as Ant made repeated mention of ‘our last episode’.

And things got a little bit rude in the last ever episode, with swearing and several X rated jokes heard in the two-hour final episode.

Introducing Ring My Bell Extreme, a special final version of the live audience game involving Ring doorbells, the pair suggested they could get people to do it naked but ‘we were told we’re not allowed to do that’.

Dec said: “What is it that makes it extreme, are we gonna make everybody play it naked?”

Ant replied; “No, we weren’t allowed to do that. We should have, what are they gonna do, cancel us? It’s our last episode.”

Then during the game, Ant told one man: “I can see your helmet!” as he held it up to the Ring doorbell camera.

Then a man from Nottingham, who was asked to show a duvet, wheelie bin and a hat to the camera to win a Takeaway Getaway, was told ‘you need to ring the doorbell!; before he was heard shouting ‘oh s***!”.

Dec then said: “Apologies for the language there, Nottingham!”

In the same episode, Dec said it was time for the climax of Ant Vs Dec – and Ant said “haha, you said climax.”

And during the segment – which saw Ant take on Dec in a penalty shootout – Ant was annoyed that Sky Sports News legend Kirsty Gallacher wasn’t wearing red in support.

Dec then piped up “Kirsty’s wearing red underwear,” as Kirsty replied “Dec knows.”

It was a tense shootout for Ant Vs Dec, as after 20 series and 140 episodes, Dec scored a penalty to make him the ultimate winner of Ant Vs Dec.
