For Anthony Joshua, losing twice in a row against Oleksandr Usyk was a career-defining moment that will remain for him until the day he retires. Another fight against the Ukrainian champion would most definitely play out in the same way it did the first two times. However, there is still a chance for a trilogy if AJ can keep on winning his upcoming fights. Recently, Joshua knocked out Robert Helenius and already won his second fight since losing to Usyk. But the people have always wanted to watch him perform against the likes of either Deontay Wilder of Tyson Fury. But there is someone who seems to think AJ is definitely not ready to fight any of those two heavyweights. His name is Manuel Charr, who is a peer from the same division.

The reason Joshua can’t defeat Wilder or Fury

During a recent interview with Seconds Out, Manuel Charr broke down the reason he believes Anthony Joshua may not be ready to fight either Deontay Wilder or Tyson Fury yet. His reasoning is at least interesting to hear because we are talking about a fellow heavyweight who knows the division well. Here’s what he said: “Right now Joshua is mentally broken, you can see that. Against Andy Ruiz Jr when he got first knocked out, two losses against Usyk, he looks broken. He needs time. He is not ready for Fury. He needs five or six easy fights to get back to himself. If he fights Wilder next he can stop boxing after that. He is not ready for Wilder or Fury and not ready for me.”

If reports are correct, Anthony Joshua’s upcoming fight would be before the end of 2023 and it would pin him against Deontay Wilder. The Alabama native’s spirit was also broken when he lost two out of three fights against Tyson Fury. In fact, he didn’t get to win a single one of those fights because he tied the first one. Regardless, his performances were far more entertaining than what Anthony Joshua did against Oleksandr Usyk. Should we get that fight between Wilder and Joshua, surely the winner would have a shot at the titles that are currently held by either Tyson Fury or Oleksandr Usyk. Who would you like to see Anthony Joshua fight next?
