Scheana Shay got emotional while discussing how Vanderpump Rules’ co-star Tom Sandoval’s cheating scandal affected her.
The reality TV star, 38, appeared on episode three of Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast hosted by, Alex Baskin, on Tuesday, and shared she’s had a difficult time trying to figure out how to navigate her friendships post Scandoval.
Scheana teared up as she talked about the difficulties of dealing with the fallout from the scandal, after it was revealed that Tom, 40, had cheated on his longtime girlfriend Ariana Madix, 38, with fellow cast member Raquel Leviss, 29.
‘Outside of Ariana, I feel like I was the person next mostly directed by all of this, but I’m not allowed to feel anything because it’s not about me, because it’s only about her,’ she shared.
‘I’m struggling with how can I tell my story while still keeping it about her. Because it’s not about me, but it is kinda about me.

‘And it was so hard. And I don’t know that Ariana will ever understand how hard this was on me personally. Because yes, it didn’t happen to me. I wasn’t cheated on. But there was a lot that he did do personally to me.’
‘It was this whole inner struggle all season long where I’m like, I have things that I need to work through so I can sleep at night, so I can be a present mother,’ she said as her eyes got teary.
‘And I’m someone who always tries to work towards a path of forgiveness, because that’s just who I am.’
‘And so it has been such a struggle to try and stay loyal while working on putting myself first.’
‘And just that whole struggle where it’s like I always put everyone first and I feel like this is the first season where I’m like I have to do what’s best for me first.’
‘I lost weight after the scandal, I was in court after the scandal, I was fighting rumors online about my own husband after the scandal.’
‘I mean, it really did a number on me that I don’t think a lot of people realize,’ she went on.
‘It is, you know, an ensemble cast. It’s not just Tom and Ariana, but I feel like this season that we just filmed, it was trying to figure that out.’

‘For me personally, trying to see, you know, do I just stay Team Ariana and say eff Tom forever?’
‘Do I try and work towards a path of forgiveness for me personally? Do I try to be his friend again? Is that me being disloyal to her?’

Shay shared that she was in a discussion with Below Deck Down Under’s Captain Jason Chambers when they all decided to move to Sandoval hotel room.
‘We sat on the couch, as you see in the story Sandoval posted. I’m literally sitting in the corner talking to Captain Jason.’
However, she did say she confronted Sandoval about the things he’s been saying in regards to Ariana.
‘After that, I pulled Sandoval aside. I told him I did not like the things that I heard he said about Ariana that day on the carpet. I said, “I don’t care if you’re saying she did this, you deserved what happened to you. I don’t like that you’re continuing to bring things up. You keep picking a scab. I need you to let her heal.”‘
‘Talk about anything else in your life, but let her be,’ she continued. ‘I literally put him in his place and Captain Jason can attest to that. He was there for part of the conversation where I’m yelling at Sandoval in his room.’
After Leviss’ affair with Sandoval was exposed, she quit the show and isn’t expected to be back for future seasons.

Scheana’s podcast appearance comes a day after the extended trailer for Season 11 of the Bravo series was released, where Tom Schwartz dropped the bombshell that he previously ‘made out’ with Scheana.
‘I’ve cheated. I was a makeout slut. I made out with Scheana in Vegas and nobody knows that,’ he told Lala Kent.
While the timing of the Las Vegas tryst between Schwartz and Shay is unclear, Kent is visibly shaken and responds ‘What?’
Later in the explosive clip, Schwartz tells his ex-wife Katie Maloney, ‘It was just one kiss,’ as she fires back, ‘My feelings never mattered to you.’
Vanderpump Rules returns Tuesday, Jan. 30, at 8 p.m. on Bravo.
